ARRUINADO
Descarga en mí, esa tirria
Lamenta tu savia, no temas
Mira los recuerdos, en llamas
Inflama tus ojos y mira!
En silencio respiro?
En silencio sonrío?
Arruinado…
ARRUINADO
En silencio respiro?
En silencio sonrío?
Arruinado…
ARRUINADO
Llora tus muertos, no sueñes
desmaya tus ansias y calla!
No sufras..
En silencio respiro?
En silencio sonrío?
Arruinado…
ARRUINADO!!
En silencio respiro?
En silencio sonrío?
Arruinado…
Hablado:
Coexistes en el abandono,
sombra de llanto inmortal!
No más delirios,
consternación
No más ilusiones,
tribulación
Mares eternos
Inmensa creación
dolencia lamentos
inmolación
Solo la noche
es como la muerte
hago mis obras para sobrevivir al dolor,
al deseo de expiración…
llenaré el cosmos
con testimonios artificiales,
incapaces de hacerte daño.
hijo de Saturno, no me lleves, no me escuches…
Siento bilis negra
la visión cruda e inmensa
que desgarra… melancolía
que abruma… desespera,
que atormenta, nos violenta
que acribilla…
Siento bilis negra
la visión cruda e inmensa
que desgarra… melancolía
que nos mata… nos enferma
que desangra…
Anestesia
Sombras y lamentos
Espuma, delirios en la boca
Espanto, viviendo solitario
Amnesia
Ira y tormentos
Espuma, sangre en los ojos
Letargo, llorando desolado
Inmerso en tu sangre,
Cruenta desgracia
Saturno invierno
Asfixia al siniestro
Soy el sol enfermo
Enfermo de anemia
Yo sustancia, tú materia
Tu espuma
yo miseria, tú tragedia
Tu espuma
Yo angustia, tú blasfemia
Tu espuma, yo miseria!
El dolor de abstinencia
insoportable martirio
desaparece
es señal permanente…
de tu tiranía.
Y soy imperfecto
la emoción no fenece?
se esconde…se muere?
Somos estrellas muertas
Corazones desmembrados
Veneno para el alma…
Veneno… Veneno!
Y crece mi amargura
Quietud infinita… de las sombras
Soy tu rostro, cicatriz del viento
Clemencia que cura, devoción que quema
Somos estrellas muertas
Corazones desmembrados
Veneno… Veneno!!
Y crece mi amargura
Quietud infinita de las sombras
Soy tu rostro, cicatriz del viento
Caridad que cura, afección que mata
about
In life, when you have thoroughly enjoyed something, you will always want more. That’s how humans are shaped. Even if all we get is a small dose, we crave more. Throughout this most recent stage, in addition to having played important shows such as onboard 70000 Tons of Metal, a few dates in the US, as well as important venues in their country, Total Death released their fifth full-length album Inmerso en la Sangre, which we international fans have truly enjoyed. We have learned its songs by heart, then fearlessly sung them at their concerts and shouted them in our cars or in the shower.
Now, luckily for us, they are back. As a not-so-silent plot, and while they finish outlining their seventh album, the band presents us with a three-song EP. Echoes, haze and a never-ending mist spread throughout the length of Total Death’s new material: Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart. From the title to the cover art and track listing, the entire album has an almost invisible thread which takes you by the hand without you noticing.
The band’s new material is without a doubt complex, experimental and mature; a work of art withdrawn into itself, not looking beyond its perfection and complete coherence; an exercise in honesty that few people in the Latin American metal scene are willing to do. It evokes the feeling of plunging into a sea that uninhibitedly mixes Doom, Death, Avant Garde, and Progressive, almost Alternative Rock. It’s a vast and forgotten world, the remains of a shipwreck, images of the Andes…
Total Death has already given us some records that were close to perfection. However, they had never released an album with such absolutely overwhelming internal coherence. The record is so clearly structured, from the title to the general sound by courtesy of the legendary multi-instrumentalist and producer DAN SWANO, that everything fits together in an almost magical way.
Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart is an album that escapes all labeling. Doom Death? Progressive Death? Avant Garde? It’s a record with elements of rock, metal, and progressive genres, and still, surprise, surprise, it’s their least commercial one, with songs that average 7 minutes and therefore not for the mere mortal. It’s music that opens up a new world for the band, which could, as of now, write a film score. Or pluperfect metal songs. The sky’s the limit.
Arruinado is a slow-tempo song, an emotional and soulful tune with far-reaching musical progressions, accompanied by intimate lyrics turned into a cathartic scream. As if this wasn’t enough, they have invited Dan Swano himself and the renowned Mr Hitch from the putrid Mexican band Zombiefication to sing with them, elevating this song to a new dimension.
Espuma de Ausencias shows us from the beginning that Total Death is the avant-garde of Latin metal, taking their chances with congas and experimenting with several changes in atmosphere, voices and relevant keyboards by the new member, the talented Miguel Santelices, who already debuted in North America.
The last track, La cura, a blend of Doom Rock, Metal, or whatever it may be, is interpreted by the legendary Juan Manuel Dávalos a.k.a. DAH from the now-extinct Dies Irae, a cult band from the 90s, a musician whose extravagant voice flirts successfully with Alternative Rock, Blackgaze, or Suicidal Depressive Black Metal; definitely the cherry on the cake.
Like an immaculate heart, the band makes use of the grief that music gives them to share their memories and reflections. Like a sorrowful heart, the musicians of eternal grief shine like never before on these songs, bountiful of sincerity and emotion.
